OPT & PGWP

Students who attend CEFAM are often in pursuit of opportunities abroad beyond their studies. Many are seeking international careers. One path they may choose comes through CEFAM partnerships so that these possibilities can become reality. The United States and Canada both offer international students work opportunities post-graduation.

OPT stands for Optional Practical Training

It is an opportunity for international students graduating in the United States to temporarily work within the major area of study. Eligible students can receive up to 12 months of employment authorization. For more information, please consult the United States Citizen and Immigration Services website.

Students who graduate in Canada have access to the PGWPP, the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program. This program allows students who have graduated from eligible Canadian designated learning institutions to obtain an open work permit that can help them qualify for residency. For further information, please visit the Canadian Immigration website.
